If you ever wished you had a better way to carry your turkey than by the legs, this turkey toter is the answer.
Click on the first picture and see how it frees your hands to carry a chair, jacket, blind, or lead the dog.
The wide strap distributes the weight evenly across your shoulders.
The Turkey Two Toter, Dog Lead & Tie-Out carries up to two turkeys comfortably, leads the dog, and is used to tie him to a tree or your chair while you call the turkeys in. Toter is 1" wide by 42" long forest green nylon with brass hardware and reinforced stitching; sliding ring adjusts up to 10" in diameter. Click on pictures to enlarge.

For Sale - Appalachian Turkey Hunting Dog - Born 12/17/2007
While all the turkeys in the U.S. nearly went extinct around 1900, there remained a few pockets of secluded, huntable populations, and hunters who continued to train long-legged, fast, and big running turkey dogs. Most of these were in Virginia. There families kept their strain of turkey dogs going for generations. They remain a secretive bunch, and are still hard to find today. Rarely do we ever see their pups for sale. This pups sire and dam are from just such an old time breeder from Virginia.
The dam Belle is half english setter and half gordon setter. Belle (Stories page) weighs about 30-35 lbs. The sire is half pointer and half setter, about 40-45 lbs, short hair, solid black (he looks like a solid black pointer). Sometimes dark colored dogs throw light colored pups, but it's in his genes, and Snow could just as well throw dark colored pups. While white is a predominate color with pointers and setters, you only need a little camo to hide the dog once they understand the game. It's movement that startles the turkey, not the color.
Both the parents are accomplished turkey flushing dogs. Neither bark on the track, but bark well at the flush site. They are both biddable, easy to handle and work with. The pups parents are medium range hunting dogs and sit quietly in the blind. He's been wormed and had his shots. Call 859/734-6910 or email Eddie Williams in Harrodsburg, KY for more pictures.
A cross between a setter and a pointer was classified as a Dropper since 1879. The best dog ever was a dropper named Duke. Henry Hooker said:  "The Dropper, part setter, part pointer, was 'the meat-providingest dog' ever hunted." The Virginia turkey dog breeders have been known to mix some hound in there too, but how much and what kind is part of their secret. Here's your chance to own a guaranteed bonafide old time Virginia turkey dog. Click on pictures to enlarge.
